Art Deco silver over ivory cane. The hippo ivory “L” handle is 1 1/3″ high and 4 1/2″ long. It is carved to a point on each end and the top, bottom, and sides are carved with hard-angled edges. Additionally, it is encased in a decorated silver cage that is owner-initialed: “J.J.Mc.C.”. (The lower ring contains very worn hallmarks that may be Gorham and the word “Sterling” is discernible.) The shaft is mahogany that terminates with a 1 1/2″ white metal and iron ferrule. The overall length is 36″ and the condition is very good. It is American, ca 1915.
